Making a difference, one halo at a time
By Lynn Cooper
In 2008, Milann Funk and Charlotte McCloskey (Tour of Homes co-chairs) recognized that someone might want to make a donation without participating directly in the Tour of Homes. Through their inspiration, and that of Anne Youmans who coined the name, Angels in the Woods was born.
Anyone can become an Angel! Anyone can become an Angel by making a contribution in any amount. Contributions can also be made to honor or remember someone. Angels in the Woods also is an excellent way to make year-end charitable contributions that will benefit those in need in our own community.
From its inception, one hundred percent of any donation to Angels in the Woods has gone directly to charities in Dawson and Pickens counties. The charities are selected by the Big Canoe Chapel Women’s Guild and change from year to year. All donations are tax-deductible.
Your donations to honor special occasions or a loved one may be any time While initially Angels in the Woods was connected solely to the Tour of Homes, people can now send contributions throughout the year—especially in memory of loved ones (even pets). Donors have also honored special occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays, or made contributions in appreciation of friendships, to thank individuals for things they have done—such as serving as a board member, or to honor grandchildren.
To share in Angels in the Woods, send your check in any amount made payable to: BCC Tour of Homes and designate it for Angels in the Woods. Mail your check to Angels in the Woods, BCC Tour of Homes, 10530 Big Canoe, Jasper, GA 30143.
Please click here for a donation form. You will want to list the names of all donors to be included in any listing (e.g. if you and your spouse are contributing, list both names). If you are honoring or remembering an Angel, indicate that person’s name (as you wish it to appear). Where appropriate, be sure to include their address so that an acknowledgement letter can be sent. Donors will receive an acknowledgement and a tax receipt.
For additional information, please contact Anne Youmans (706) 268-1944 or Lynn Cooper (706) 268-1656.
